School Age Centre Back

The School Age program has a license capacity of 107 children ages 2 1/2  years to 12 years of age. The Centre is located inside of St. Lawrence Community Centre, North Side of the building.

The Centre offers a full day Preschool Program with a license capacity of 47 children, and a School Age Program with a licensed capacity of 60 children.  The School Age program entails care before school 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and after school 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., full time care is also provided on P.A. days, December Break, March Break and Summer.

St. Lawrence offers a before school 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and after school 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m  To:before school 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. , lunch time, and after school 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., full time care is also provided on P.A. days, December Break, March Break and Summer.


Day Care staff escort children to three community schools: Market Lane Public School, St. Michael Catholic School and Downtown Alternative School (DAS).  Transportation arrangements to other Downtown Schools can also be made by parents through respective School Boards. 
 
 
Curriculum:
A weekly curriculum for each classroom is prepared by the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE).    The weekly curriculum is based on observations of children's interests and developmental skills. The weekly curriculum includes activities in the ares of: Social, Emotional, Communication, Cognitive, and Physical. 

Summer Program:
The summer program provides children with an opportunity to explore and engage in learning experiences both in the City of Toronto and the GTA.   All field trips are carefully planned by an experienced team of staff while ensuring  a fun and stimulating journey, safety comes first and is paramount when off site.  All field trips are either within walking distance of the community or via a Chartered Bus.  The summer is also supplemented with organized on site events and special activities that are planned in each classroom. Parents are always welcome to join us on a trip or volunteer in the classroom, sign up forms for summer trips are posted well in advance to give parents ample notice.
 
Menu:
The Centre provides one morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch To: The Centre provides one morning, two afternoon snacks and a hot lunch,  the hot lunch is catered by "Choice Children's Catering".  The menu is posted by the kitchen and also made available in the classrooms.  The menu encourages a variety of foods, meets the Canada Food Guide, Day Nursery Act, and City of Toronto Operating Criteria. The Centre is a nut free facility and also does not serve pork products.  All allergies or food restrictions are discussed with the Supervisor and Catering Company to ensure accuracy in alternatives prior to a child's enrollment.
